ARCB 2006 Policy Updates

The ARCB Board of Directors is always looking for ways to serve our certificants more effectively. In light of, and in response to, some recent inquiries regarding inactive status and lapsed fees the following updates in policy will take effect January 2007.

Lapsed Fee

The new policy for those whose annual fee has lapsed is to allow a one year grace period in which to re-instate without loss of certification.  The certificant must pay the previous and current year’s annual fees to reinstate.  Inactivity longer than a year requires re-testing of the written and practical (with no new study guide sent).  This eliminates the problem of meeting continuing education requirements and is less expensive for the certificant than paying all back fees and taking courses to earn continuing education units as well.

Inactive Status

For a certificant who, because of some kind of hardship, cannot send in the full Annual Fee but does not wish to be dropped as a certificant, upon written request and making out an application, a certificant may apply for inactive status by:

            • Paying $30 per year for no more than two years, and commit to
            • Pay at the time of reinstatement to Active Status, the balance of current and/or lapsed                                  fees due, and
• Demonstrate CE requirements have been met during the lapsed period prior to reinstatement.

For those certificants who have not sent in the annual fee and have not communicated with the ARCB or whose Lapsed Fee status has run out, the Reinstatement Policy is:

1. Pay the balance of current and/or lapsed fees due during the lapsed period.

2. For up to 24 months, bring the annual and lapsed fees current and provide documentation to                   confirm Continuing Education status.

3. Over 24 months, retest by paying the current testing fee and taking the written and practical          portions (no documentations required).

Note:  Benefits are suspended during both the Inactive or Lapsed Fee period.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2007

Due to rising costs ARCB must reluctantly raise its annual fee to $55.  Testing fees barely cover
the cost of testing and that too will be increased to $300.00 effective January 2007.  Your annual fee goes to support office expenses, maintain referral listing, web site and updates, publishing and mailing the newsletter, legislative activities and test development.
