Appeals/Grievance/Disciplinary Policy

Denial of Examination

When an application is denied a letter explaining why the applicant does not meet testing requirements is sent.  Additional information may be requested and the file reviewed.  Upon second denial the applicant may write to the Appeals/Grievance Committee for special consideration.

Failure of Examination

Notification of test results are sent through the mail within 4-6 weeks after the test.  Candidates must retake any portion that is failed at the next scheduled date in their area and pay a $100.00 re-testing fee.  If it involves the documentations, they must be submitted for grading within three months of the failure notice along with a $100.00 re-submission fee.  On a practical re-test a different proctor will be used the second time whenever possible.  Any appeals of test scores must be submitted in writing to the appeals/Grievance Committee for review.

Appeals Process

ARCB follows a 7-step Disciplinary policy overseen by an Appeals/Grievance Committee.  In complaint mediation the first objective is to determine from the complainant the nature of the problem and their request for resolution.  The second step is to notify the certificant of the complaint and work to reach a compromise.  A follow-up is required to verify that the compromise has been enacted.  A copy of the complete 7-step Disciplinary Policy is available upon request.  Disciplinary action not settled satisfactorily at the Appeals/Grievance Committee may be appealed to the full Board of Directors for review and decision.  Decisions by the Board are final in all cases.

Disciplinary Procedures

All certificants agree to practice according the the Code of Ethics and Business Standards set by the ARCB.  Infractions and conduct harmful to the public or inappropriate to the discipline are subject to Disciplinary Procedures.

Successful candidates are entitled to use the designation of "ARCB Board Certified Reflexologist"™  They receive a certificate, and ARCB lapel pin, and a wallet I.D. card.  Use of the pin, certificate, title, I.D. card and the ARCB logo are subject to the rules and regulations of the ARCB and remain the property of the ARCB.  In case of severe disciplinary action the practitioner may be required to surrender these items to the ARCB.
