The importance of professional membership organizations

ARCB encourages reflexologists involvement in all levels of Reflexology associations, from local support groups to state, national, and international professional organizations.  Support groups at the local level, where trading sessions and review of material occurs are a reinforcement of your work.  Further professionalism is demonstrated to your clients when they know you are affiliated with organizations dedicated to maintaining professional and ethical standards.   It lets them know you are concerned about the field of Reflexology and actively support its growth and development as well as your own continuing education.  As a member of an association you are kept informed of the latest developments in the field through continuing education opportunities, conferences, and newsletters.  When seeking any type of governmental sanctioning designed to protect your right to practice as a separate modality, the number of reflexologists represented on the local, national, and international levels in associations is important.  All reflexologists support each other anywhere in the world as there is strength in numbers.  The latest development, as groups look toward governmental approval, is the move toward Reflexology associations involvement in coalitions with other modalities in the somatic practices field.top

If I've been certified by ARCB am I a member of their association?

No.  ARCB is a testing agency only.  It does not have a membership organization attached to it. It is not possible to join ARCB.  When you successfully test with ARCB you become a certificant, not a member.  ARCB 's primary concern is the protection of the public through assurance of the competence of its certificants. The goals of membership associations are different.  They involve the advancement of the members' interests through such activities as public relations, and lobbying efforts.  Membership organizations are open to reflexologists, usually from all schools as well as the public, and others outside the field who wish to support Reflexology.top
