American Reflexology Certification Board

REFLEXOLOGY TRAINING

Choosing the right reflexology training program is an important first step toward building a professional foundation in reflexology. The American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB) is an independent national certification organization dedicated to establishing and maintaining professional standards through certification.

ARCB does not provide reflexology education, approve training programs, or endorse specific schools or educators. However, we recognize that quality reflexology education is available through a variety of training providers and encourage prospective students to explore their options.

This page provides helpful resources for locating reflexology training, understanding ARCB's minimum educational requirements, and making informed decisions before enrolling in a program. For individuals interested in pursuing ARCB national certification, it is especially important to ensure that their chosen training meets the educational eligibility requirements outlined in the ARCB Applicant Handbook.

Understanding State Requirements

Laws and regulations governing the practice of reflexology vary by state. Some states have specific requirements for reflexology education, certification, or licensure, while others may exempt reflexology from massage therapy regulations or have no specific reflexology regulations.

Before enrolling in a training program or beginning professional practice, we encourage you to research the laws and requirements in the state where you intend to practice. Your state reflexology association, if one exists, or the appropriate state regulatory agency may be a helpful resource.

Please note that ARCB national certification does not replace or supersede state licensing or regulatory requirements. It is each practitioner's responsibility to understand and comply with the laws applicable to their practice.

Where to Begin Your Search

A good starting point for exploring reflexology training opportunities is the National Council for Reflexology Educators (NCRE), which provides resources and information about reflexology educators and training programs.

However, not all qualified reflexology educators are members of NCRE, and there are many other training options available. Prospective students are encouraged to explore independent educators, schools, and training programs to find an option that meets their needs.

Your state reflexology association, if one exists, may also be a helpful resource for identifying educational opportunities in your area.

Regardless of the educator or program selected, it is important to confirm that the training meets ARCB's minimum educational requirements if national certification is your goal.

Understanding ARCB's Educational Requirements

If your goal is to pursue national certification through ARCB, it is important to ensure that your chosen reflexology training program meets ARCB's minimum educational requirements.

ARCB requires a minimum of 200 hours of documented reflexology education, including specific subject areas and minimum instructional hours within each area. Completing 200 hours of training alone does not necessarily establish eligibility for certification.

Before enrolling, we encourage you to review the ARCB Applicant Handbook and share the educational requirements with your prospective educator. You should also confirm that the educator can provide a detailed transcript documenting your completed training, including the hours earned in each required subject area. A transcript template can be found HERE.

Taking these steps before enrolling can help ensure that your education aligns with ARCB's certification eligibility requirements.

Planning for ARCB Certification

Completing your reflexology education is an important step toward achieving national certification through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB).

In addition to meeting ARCB's minimum educational requirements, applicants must successfully complete the certification application process. We encourage prospective applicants to familiarize themselves with the certification process early in their educational journey to better understand the requirements and prepare for the next steps.
